Just a reminder:
Baptism, Child Dedication, and Worship Night will be held this week!
Wednesday, April 19th at 6:30 p.m.
Blue Ridge Church
**Please respond to this email by CONFIRMING the first and last names of those to be baptized and letting us know your t-shirt size. And, please make sure you check in at the Information Table to get your name tag and shirt when you arrive for the Baptism.
You will want to bring a towel and something to be baptized in—shorts and a tee shirt are fine. Please try to arrive by 6:10 p.m.
We will start the evening at 6:30 p.m. with child dedication, to celebrate with all our parents dedicating their children. After child dedication, we will celebrate baptism. The process of baptism is fairly simple.
Scott will be in the water ready to receive you. Once in the water, you can cross your arms in front of you—that will give him something to hold as he lowers you in the water. You’re free to hold your nose, if you like. If you have a back issue or some condition that prevents you from going backwards, he can do the squat method. Just let us know, and he can demonstrate prior to entering the water.
When you get in the water Scott will say, "In the water with me today is (your name).” He will follow with the question: "Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior?" To which you will respond "yes", and then he will say, "I baptize you my brother/sister in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit." Slightly bend your legs, and he will lean you back under the water and bring you right back up out of the water.
We will then get a picture of you, while you are still in the water with Scott, then you are free to head to the bathrooms to change.
We are so excited for you! We hope you'll invite your friends and family to join you in this special evening - we are so looking forward to it. Please let me know if you have any questions - we'll see you soon!
Thanks,
Kim
